The President of the Hellenic Statistical Authority, Mr. Athanasios Thanopoulos, visited the Amphitheater of our school and spoke to the students on Tuesday 16th of October 2018 at 11:00, for the value and uses of Statistics as well as the value of Official Statistics.

The occasion of his visit was due to the PanHellenic Award of the school's "plUs" team in the 1st Panhellenic Statistics Competition held in the previous school year 2017-2018. The team was distinguished in both phases of the competition by winning the 1st Panhellenic Prize and representing our country in the 1st European Statistics Competition.

The team coordinator was Alexandros Sygkelakis, Math Teacher of our school, who trained the students on the basic principles of Statistics by delivering lessons at the Math Laboratory of the school.

During the competition, the students were assisted by Mr. Georgiades, School Deputy Director, in the field of statistical data processing, Kyriakos Charitakis in the creation of the video for the participation in the European Statistics Competition, as well as Grigoris Chlouverakis, Associate Professor of Biostatistics at the Department of Medicine of the University of Crete, Niki Bourantas, secretary of the Chemistry Department for the concession of the room where the video for participation in the European Statistics Competition was filmed, Chrystalleni Hatziharalambous, Lecturer in Chemistry, Haris Dimitrakopoulos, Biology teacher of our School and Maria Pitsaki, English teacher of the school.

The award ceremony for the 3 best teams of the competition took place at the building of HEL.STAT. on Friday 11th of May 2018, where each student received honorable diploma. Students of the champion team also received one tablet.
